That evening, as she walks out of her college after the debate team’s meeting, she sees a familiar face at the bus stop across her college. As she draws nearer, she realises that it is Hari. She considers walking on and pretending to not have seen him, but their eyes have already locked and now there is no dignified way in which she can ignore him.
Moreover, she does not want to. She wills him to walk over to her and give her a good enough reason to make her look forward to spending more time with him.
As if on cue, Hari walks over to Latha. He starts out with a cautious ‘Hi’, like he was testing the waters before wading in. She responds with an equally guarded ‘Hello!’ Now, Hari seems a little more relaxed.
He starts explaining his friends accident and how he only realised about the text much later and how he had been waiting at the bus stop since afternoon for Latha to walk out.
How will Latha respond?
