Latha was having a seemingly uneventful Monday, when she ran into Harikrishnan. Hari had been one of the guests at her birthday party on the houseboat. They had spent some time chatting up about random stuff spanning from literature to politics and sports to philosophy. He had been more interesting than the rest of the guys Latha was used to. Her previous boyfriends had always seemed to be only interested in booze and drugs. Latha (read, ‘her money’) had been, more often than not, their means to getting what they wanted. Hari did not strike her as someone like that.
As Hari approached Latha, she felt her heart pounding. By the time she realized that her face was flushed, it was too late.
“Hi Latha. How have you been? Haven’t seen you since the house-boat party last weekend!”
Having quit trying to make her face look normal, Latha looked into Hari’s beautiful hazel coloured eyes and replied, “Oh.. you know, I have been busy around college. We have been working on a fashion show competition. What’s up with you?”
Hari looked a little nervous as he responded with a “Nothing much. Just the usual scheme of things in a law school, I suppose!” But then he added, “Listen, would you like to hang out sometime? You and me.”
Latha could barely remember to breath in and out as she managed to casually ask him, “You mean, like, a date?”
“Ya, like a date.” Hari sounded a little more confident as he stated that.
Latha spent the last bit of self-control to not sound too excited as she said, “That would be okay.”
How do you think things will work out for Latha an Hari? Let us know how the story should proceed.
