She sees Pierson rush into the Dining Hall, where she was seated with his sister. She was deep in conversation with Gigi when Pierson rushes into the Dining Hall when he had suddenly appeared.
Pierson clearly looks as though he has seen a ghost, and in many ways, their marriage had pretty much reduced to that of a ghost; non-existent. Miranda had been a student researching under Pierson in Columbia University when she first met him. She fell in love in that very first session. After dating for a short period, they were married. It was only then that sense and reason dawned upon Miranda, her husband would never turn into the romantic
that she had always dreamed for in her man. When Pierson got the job offer in Bangalore, Miranda decided to stay back in the United States. And slowly, their distance started taking a toll on their marriage. It had been weeks since they had last communicated with each other (mostly these were messages dropped on Whatsapp or Facebook messenger). However, things could not stay in this state of limbo anymore. She just could not bare it.
