Miranda had always overthought. She was used to obsessing about what could happen, what things could lead too. Even though, she had often been told by her friends that this was a weakness and that she should learn to go with the flow, Miranda maintained this was her strength.
As a budding scientist, she believed it was important to analyse, visualize and imagine as much it was important to have an acute knowledge of her subject. As Dr. Kerr walked into the dining room, her heart started beating fast . It had been so long since they had met. To her, Pierson was a role-model and she worshiped him and avidly followed his research studies.
Pierson looked shaken to see her and his sister Gigi. He nodded stiffly at her, before turning to glare at Gigi, “What is this, Gigi? This is bloody unacceptable! You can’t just pop in whenever the mood strikes! I would very much appreciate a call first.”
Gigi shook her head at Miranda who smiled hesitantly.
“Brother, dear, always great to see you! Look who I bought along. Brandon has taken a shine to her!”
Miranda beamed happily at Gigi’s declaration. She was glad to start bonding with the Kerr family.
Later that night, Miranda read the email from Pierson:
It was good to see you today. Seeing you, I realised I have missed you. I would like to try again.
Just then, her doorbell rang and she jerked out of her reverie. She was still staring at the stupid advertisement for weight loss, when she had started day-dreaming. Pierson was never going to fall in love with her. She crushed her hopeless fantasy as she walked over to answer the door.
Who is it at the door?
