Turner left Dhaara’s home with a heart full of emotions and with a smile and thank you on his lips. He had been working with StingRay since its inception and SR might not be friendly with anybody in the world, Turner knew himself to be the only person who was trusted by The Shark. He had spent days sometimes months working on some projects that were too important for SR to be handed to somebody else. He knew his importance in SR’s life (though the latter never expressed anything).

This project regarding SR’s lady love had proved to be a roller coaster ride of emotions and he certainly felt drained. He could easily imagine how SR would feel once he submitted the detailed report of this meeting to him along with videos and pictures. He felt a corner of his heart turn soft for his boss. He was soon going to push his boss into one of his weakest moments. He shrugged the thought and said to himself, “I need a drink….I direly need a drink.”

He walked down the road and just a few blocks away from Dhaara’s home he found a bar and restaurant. He smiled and stepped inside. The bar was dimly lit and full of smoke. Though he enjoyed one or two of his occasional drinks, Turner was not a cigarette person. He found the smoke repulsive but one can’t possibly escape the cigarette smoke in a bar.
He reached the counter, seated himself on a stool and ordered his favourite one.
“Hey buddy, how u doing Turner man?” a voice with a little slur reached his ears. He turned his head towards left and found a man sitting next to him with a dead drunk expression on his face.
He hesitated for a moment “Hey Abhinav, I am good. I didn’t know you lived in this area” and then he stiffened.
Abhinav replied in the same slurry way: “No my friend I don’t….. I don’t live here… i came here for…. you know what!” he lifted the glass held in his hand.

“Yeah I guess I can understand…” Turner didn’t want to stay here for long now. Abhinav was the last person on earth; he would have liked to have as a company while having a drink.
“Awwww Turner…… you don’t look very much pleased to see me buddy. Remember we had such good times together?” asked Abhinav almost dangling at the edge of the stool he was sitting on.

Turner ignored and kept sipping his drink. How could he not remember? Abhinav had joined StingRay and had proved in a couple of months that he could be really good if he wanted to. With his jovial ways and carefree attitude he had soon become a favourite of the staff. Everyone loved being in his company (the girls specially, though they didn’t have many). He was carefree but he took his projects seriously and always delivered. Turner himself had liked him though his pragmatic side had always had a doubt about him that he always brushed aside thinking it was just another occupational hazard. Working for The Shark made you a skeptic. But then his pragmatic side was proved right by the man in question himself. It had been just ten months and Abhinav had copied the evidence CD compiled by the organisation to use when the need arrived. The CD had contained some really confidential things about an industrialist.

Though the industrialist wasn’t one of those top notch ones (Abhinav was too new to be put on a big project), the CD still did matter. Abhinav, using the copy of that CD was blackmailing the industrialist. When this thing came out and reached the people across the organisation, there was a furore. He was the one and only employee in StingRay’s history, who had deceived his own organisation. Trust and secrecy were the first and final rules of the organisation irrespective of the shady nature of their business. It had been three years since that episode but the memories were still fresh. Turner revisited those bitter memories, finished his remaining drink in one gulp and got up to leave.

Abhinav grabbed his hand at once and said: “Hey leaving already? Sit my friend…… talk to your old friend.” He was on the verge of collapsing because of over drinking.
Unwilling to create a scene, he seated himself again on the same stool and then Abhinav started blabbering. At first, Turner didn’t even listen what he was saying as the slur in his speech was getting worse with each drink that he was gulping down. But after a few minutes, he caught certain words that made him sit bolt upright. After that he didn’t do anything and diverted his complete attention towards Abhinav’s irritatingly slurry speech. By the time, he had finished his monologue, Abhinav could no longer sit properly and slumped on the counter and Turner could no longer hide his wide-eyed expression. If what Abhinav had just blurted out was true…. then… then… Oh God…. he will need to make another report to be sent to SR immediately. He stood up with a sudden jerk and strode out of the wood panelled doors of the bar/restaurant.

What happens next? What do you think?
