That evening when Sauvik got home from his job as a Marketing Manager at a Cosmetic Company, he was in for a treat. Anuradha had taken the effort to dress up and cook the family an elaborate dinner. From his years of marriage, if he had learnt one thing, women generally do this right before they want to ask their husbands a favor. And if he knew something about himself and all other men, they fell for this trick. Every. Single. Time.
He played along and enjoyed the dinner. Sauvik, Anuradha and her mom made small talk throughout dinner. Arghya had already been fed and was now staring at the TV screen as Chhota Bheem played out on the screen. After dinner he helped Anuradha do the dishes, while her mother tucked Arghya into bed.
As they were cleaning up the last few dishes, Anuradha finally speaks up, “I have been thinking of this for a while. How about we take a small vacation around Christmas? Just, you and me?”
Sauvik had expected Anuradha to come up with some idea of this sort, but he had not anticipated something where they would be leaving Arghya behind. He was surprised to say the least. He slowly digested this information and asked Anuradha, “but, what about Arghya? Won’t we have to take him with us?”
Anuradha quickly responded, stating that, “Oh, my mother has agreed to take care of Arghya for a couple of days.”
How does Sauvik respond? Will he be comfortable leaving his son with his mother-in-law while the couple go away on a holiday?
