It had been quite a few months. Richard was happy with his life but he was feeling a little bored too. He was convinced with the idea of leaving his job with the airlines. He had given more than 25 years of his life to his job. And because he had started young, he wasn’t the usual retiree of 60 years of age. He was 45 and despite the erratic flight routines he had managed to take good care of his health so he didn’t exactly have those mid-life diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, heart troubles that nowadays start affecting people from their 30’s only!!
Pilots are paid quite handsomely worldwide, so in these 25 years, he had amassed quite a fortune, primarily because he was single and didn’t have many expenses to take care of and secondly he was prudent when it came to savings and investments. Financially, he wasn’t in a fix and his investments ensured that he wouldn’t be, if his good health gave him a chance to live long.
But what he was really missing was some kind of action, any kind of work that had a routine. But what he could do at this age? He had a few offers to join some flying institutes as a trainer but he had said his goodbyes to flying for good. He didn’t want to do it again. With so much leisure time at his disposal, he couldn’t simply sit idly and do nothing. Watching the World Grand Prix on the television, he suddenly remembered how he had loved cars when he was a kid. If there was anything that interested him after flying…… it was cars!!
He simply loved reading those reviews (with all its technical jargon about engine displacement, transmission type, city and highway mileage, ABS, etc.) about the latest car being launched. And because he was a science student in High School, he understood quite a lot of technical things.
He had ample time at his disposal now. Could he now concentrate on his second passion: Cars? But what should he do? A dealership may be. He gave it a thought for a while and then looked at his wall clock and thought “Oh… 10.00 PM already. I should go to sleep now. I will give it a second thought tomorrow.”
What happens next? What do you think?
