Drops of perspiration appeared on Turner’s forehead and on SR’s too.
“Mr. Turner are you ok? Disha please bring a glass of water for Mr. Turner. It must be the heat I guess. Sorry we don’t have an AC.” Disha ran towards the kitchen and brought a glass of water.
“No no I am ok Mr. Devkar. Your thoughts just surprised me. Any normal man would never approve of his wife having an affair with someone else even in the past.”
“Well you can say I am not one those men. I told you, loving someone is a good thing. It means you have a heart. And in all these years, as much as I have known Dhaara… I can be sure of one thing…. that man Satya must have been a wonderful person. The purity and goodness of heart that Dhaara possesses would have made her choose only someone who was as good and pure as her. I am sure Mr. Bose must have been a wonderful human being but sometimes we just say the wrong things at the wrong time. He may be ‘The Shark’ for everybody else, but I guess in his heart of hearts he is the same man whom Dhaara loved.” He said these words with such kindness and purity that there remained no doubt that his heart was clear as a crystal and a clarity and purity like this could come only from a heart that had goodness in it and not malice with some hidden agenda. SR didn’t know about this feeling that crept into his heart and took control of it. He felt a sudden tightness in his chest.
Turner tried to find his voice back and said: “sorry Mr. Devkar. I shall keep this off the record…. none of you have to worry about this embarrassing thing. This was too personal for you all I guess.”
“None of us believe that there is anything embarrassing about loving someone Mr. Turner. That’s why I could discuss this thing so easily in front of an outsider. I knew about Mr. SR Bose right from the beginning of my association with Dhaara and for a very long time I was even comfortable with the idea of Dhaara going back to Satya someday. But I guess it was not to happen and I hope Dhaara doesn’t regret her decision of marrying me.” He looked into his wife’s eyes.
Dhaara replied putting her hand on Ashvin’s: “Not even a single millisecond do I regret the decision of marrying you and every single millisecond I thank God for bringing you into my life.” (The love that transformed into trust in their eyes needed no language…… even the dumbest of the human beings could read that language.)
Turner was going through a wave of emotions himself. He blurted out: “I wish we had more people like you all. Anyways, would you like to discuss your plans to revive Rangratna?”
What happens next? What do you think?
